May 25, 2011 12:00 am UncategorizedThousands, millions, billions of search results can really make researching a hard job to do. Lucky for all you, learning to utilize the internet and web resources in a more effective manner is pretty easy to do. Next time you are writing a paper or searching the internet, use these tips to make sure the information is credible.
Once you have found a webpage it is important to evaluate the information. You will want to look at the web address of the site to see where the site may have come from. For example a .edu site will be from an education institution. A website with a .com doesn’t necessarily indicate unreliability, but in these cases you will want to find the author of the information you are looking at. If there is not one listed that might be a red flag that the source is not reliable. Gather as much information as you can on the author, who they write for and their background.
Finally, you will want to check the dates of the material you are looking at. If you are looking at material that is fifty years old, it may not be relevant anymore. Look for the most recent information. Overall, gather as much information on the source as you can. If you can’t find any information, move on to a source who can provide background data.
